Castle Garden was the first Immigration Center in the United States. If you
are looking for relatives that came here prior to the opening of Ellis Island in
1892, then this is a good place to start.
Search for passengers who passed through Ellis island, and conduct
genealogy research by looking through their records.
Sponsored by the New City Library, the Genealogical Society of Rockland
County aims to encourage research and preserve genealogical and historical
data. They publish a quarterly that includes inquiries from members, articles,
and previously unpublished records such as Bible records, census records,
newspaper collections, and others. Society members are generally available
for anyone who asks for help.
The Legacy.com website hosts obituaries and memorials for more than 70
percent of all U.S. deaths and from more than three-quarters of the 100 largest
newspapers in the U.S., by circulation.
