Community Room

The Laura Grunwerg Community Room was dedicated on December 17, 2023 to honor the retiring director who oversaw its renovation from 2017-2018. It is available for meetings, programs, and other public uses. Availability is judged on a case by case basis. We do not rent it for use by private, for-profit enterprises. Please note that we often use the community room for our own programs, and so the room will be unavailable during certain dates and times. Please call the library to book the room.

Homebound Delivery

Are you physically unable to travel to the library due to illness, age, or disability yet still wish to enjoy our services? If so, you can now receive books via the US Mail at absolutely no cost. We will send requested books to your Blauvelt residence in a postage paid mailing bag. When you are done, just mail them back in the pre-paid bag.

Contact us at (845) 359-2811 or to sign up and receive more information about the delivery program.

This service is funded, in part, by a generous grant from the Library Association of Rockland County.

Assistive Devices

Our public computers are equipped with Microsoft's built-in accessibility tools to make their use easier for any patrons who require it. The magnifier option splits the screen in half, and allows users to position a virtual magnifying glass over any part of the screen they wish to see more clearly. The narrator will read aloud the text that appears on the screen, guided by the mouse. Headphones are available at the circulation desk. The on-screen keyboard allows users to select their keyboard characters with the mouse rather than the physical keyboard.

These features can be accessed by clicking the start menu button (the Windows logo on the lower left), selecting Windows Ease of Access. If you need assistance turning these features on, our staff would be happy to help you and teach you how to use it.

NYS Talking Books

The New York State Talking Book and Braille Library (TBBL) lends braille and recorded books to eligible residents of upstate New York. Click here for more information.

What better place for learning than the library? We permit tutoring on the premises anywhere there is an available space. There is no charge to tutors for this service, but we do urge tutor pairs to remain aware of other patrons and respect their need for a quiet space when necessary. As always, our librarians are at your service if an information need presents itself during a tutoring session.
