Of the many productions of Louisa May Alcott's beloved coming of age novel of four sisters in a New England town, the 1933 version stands out as the one all subsequent iterations are judged against. Katharine Hepburn, fresh off an Oscar-winning performance in "Morning Glory", was heavily promoted as the film's star, and correctly so. Her tomboyish, "Jo", was the bellwether for all subsequent iterations of that role, including those we plan to visit in April (1994's Winona Ryder) and May (Siorise Ronan in 2019).

The Friends expect to receive 5 copies of George Cukor's 1933 release to lend out by Wednesday afternoon, March 17. Call Barry at 845 359-2811 for home delivery in Orangetown, or email blvadultprograms@gmail.com. We'll talk chat about what we saw on Tuesday, the 23rd of March at 7 pm
