The Blauvelt Free Library is only accepting donations of children’s books which are in good condition. Donations are limited to 10 books and should be brought to the front circulation desk for drop off. Please do not deposit them outside of the library, in the book return slot, nor in the lobby area. Below are a list of organizations that may accept your book donations.
Better World Books has re-used or recycled over 216 million pounds of books
and raised over $18 million for global literacy and local libraries. Local Better World Book depositories can be found outside the Piermont Library and Orangeburg Library.
Books For Africa helps alleviate poverty of the imagination where imagination
is most needed—where war and hunger, corruption and injustice seek to crush
inspiration.
By donating gentle used books to Books4Cause.com, donors create opportunities
to help people in need. Book donations to Books4Cause.com have helped create
a free bookstore in Skokie, Illinois. Campus book drives have sent textbooks to
developing libraries and education programs in Africa.
Operation Paperback is a national, non-profit organization, whose volunteers
collect gently-used books and send them to American troops overseas, as well
as veterans and military families here at home.
ThriftBooks receives good quality, used books, lists them for sale, and finds new
customers.
